Understanding Your Extension and Phone System Login

Your Extension Number

Your extension is the internal number assigned to you within the phone system. Other people in your organization can reach you by dialing your extension directly, without needing to know your full phone number. Extensions are typically three or four digits long, though this varies by organization.

Your Domain

The domain is the identifier for your organization within the phone system. It is typically your company name or a short version of it. Your full username for most login screens is your extension and domain combined in the format extension@domain. For example, if your extension is 101 and your domain is acme, your username would be 101@acme.

Portal Login vs UC App Login

These are two different systems and use the same username format but may have different passwords depending on how your account is configured:

  • Portal: The web-based interface for managing voicemail, call history, answering rules, fax, and other account settings. Log in using extension@domain as your username and your portal password.
  • UC App: The softphone application for making and receiving calls, chat, SMS, and voicemail. Log in using extension@domain as your username and your UC app password. This may be the same as or different from your portal password depending on your setup.

Admin portal access uses a different set of credentials entirely and is managed separately from user-level accounts.

If You Do Not Know Your Credentials

If you have not yet received a welcome email or do not know your login details, contact your system administrator or support team. They can resend the welcome email, reset your password, or verify which login type applies to your account.

Changing Your Password

Passwords can be changed from within the portal under your account settings, or through the Profile section of the UC application. If you are locked out and cannot log in, contact your administrator to have a password reset initiated on your behalf.
