Overview
Do Not Disturb (DND) is a feature that stops incoming calls from ringing your phone or application. When DND is active, callers are typically routed to voicemail or handled according to your answering rules. It is useful when you need uninterrupted focus time, are in a meeting, or have stepped away from your desk.
Enabling DND from Your Desk Phone
Most VoIP desk phones have a dedicated DND button or a DND option in the phone’s menu. Press it once to enable and once more to disable. When DND is active, the phone will typically show a DND indicator on the screen or a lit indicator light. Refer to your phone’s quick reference guide if you are unsure where the DND button is located.
Enabling DND via Star Code
You can also enable and disable DND from any phone on the system using star codes:
- Dial *78 to enable Do Not Disturb.
- Dial *79 to disable Do Not Disturb.
The system will confirm the change with an audio announcement.
Enabling DND Through the Portal
- Log into the portal using your extension and domain as the username.
- Click on Answering Rules.
- Click the pencil icon next to the rule you want to modify.
- Select Do Not Disturb as the ring behavior and click Save.
- To disable, return to the same rule and switch the ring behavior back to Simultaneous Ring or your previous setting.
Enabling DND in the UC App
Click your user icon in the top left corner of the application. Toggle the DND option from the menu that appears. This will apply DND across your desk phone and the UC app simultaneously. To apply DND to only the current device without affecting your desk phone, contact your system administrator to adjust the DND scope setting for your account.
Important Notes
- DND status is synchronized between your desk phone and the UC application by default. Enabling it on one will enable it on the other.
- Callers will not hear a busy signal. They will be routed to voicemail or the next step in your answering rules.
- If DND appears to be enabling itself without your input, this is sometimes caused by a Yealink phone sending a feature sync signal. Contact support if this is happening repeatedly.
