Call Recording, AI Transcription, and Summarization in the UC App

Call Recording, AI Transcription, and Summarization in the UC App

Overview

The UC application supports on-demand call recording directly from the active call window, along with AI-powered transcription and summarization of recorded calls. These features must be enabled on the extension by an administrator before they are available.

Recording a Call

While on an active call, click the Record button in the active call window to start recording. Once recording is in progress, you can Pause or Stop the recording at any time. If the Record button is not visible, call recording has not been enabled for your extension.

Two recording modes exist depending on how the feature is configured on your account:

  • On-demand recording: Recording only happens when you actively start it using the Record button. Pauses can be held for an unlimited duration.
  • Always record: Calls are recorded automatically. Pauses are limited to 60 seconds to prevent users from bypassing recordings at the start of calls.

Accessing Recordings

Recorded calls appear in the Calls tab and are identified by an audio wave icon next to the call entry. Click the call to play the recording back directly in the application. Recordings can also be downloaded as audio files.

AI Transcription and Summarization

When AI transcription is enabled for your account, recorded calls are automatically transcribed and a summary is generated after the call ends. Both the transcript and summary are accessible by clicking the recorded call in the Calls tab. This makes it easy to review the key points of a call without listening to the full recording.

Sharing Call Recording Details

To share a recorded call with a colleague, click the Share button when viewing the call. Enter one or more contacts to share with and choose which elements to include: comments, the recording audio, notes, the AI-generated summary, or the full transcript. Click Forward to send. The recipient will receive the shared content as a message in their Chat tab.
