How to Transfer a Call

How to Transfer a Call

Overview

Call transfers allow you to send an active call to another extension, an external number, or directly to someone’s voicemail. There are two main types of transfer: a blind transfer, where the call is sent immediately without speaking to the recipient first, and an attended transfer, where you speak with the recipient before completing the transfer.

Transferring from a Desk Phone

Blind Transfer

  1. While on an active call, press the Transfer button on your phone.
  2. Dial the extension or external number you want to transfer to.
  3. Press Transfer again to complete the transfer immediately.

The caller is connected to the destination without you speaking to the recipient first. You are removed from the call once the transfer is complete.

Attended Transfer

  1. While on an active call, press the Transfer button on your phone.
  2. Dial the extension or external number you want to transfer to and press Send.
  3. Wait for the recipient to answer and announce the caller to them.
  4. Press Transfer again to complete the transfer and drop off the call.

Transfer to Voicemail

  1. While on an active call, press Transfer.
  2. Dial 7 followed by the extension whose voicemail you want to send the call to.
  3. Press Transfer to complete. The caller will go directly to that extension’s voicemail without ringing the phone.

Transferring from the UC App

  2. Search for a contact or enter the extension or number you want to transfer to.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • Blind Transfer: Sends the call immediately without speaking to the recipient.
    • Attended Transfer: Places the current caller on hold while you speak with the recipient. Click Complete Transfer once you are ready to connect them.
