Getting Started with the UC App

Getting Started with the UC App

Logging In

Open the UC application and sign in using your PBX credentials. Your username is typically in the format extension@domain. Note that this is a separate account from any admin portal login you may have.

On your first login, a banner will appear at the top of the screen asking you to allow the app to play audio for incoming calls. Allow this permission to ensure calls ring properly. You may also be prompted to grant additional permissions such as video access when those features are first used.

Navigating the App

Once signed in, all features are accessible from the left-side navigation menu. Click your user icon at the top left to access settings, report an issue, or sign out.

Some features, including SMS, Fax, and Voicemail Transcription, must be enabled by an administrator and may not appear for all users.

Calls

The Calls tab lets you make new calls and view your recent call history. You can initiate a call from three places: the plus New button at the top of the left menu, the New Call button at the top of the Calls tab, or the always-accessible Dial Pad button at the bottom of the left menu.

Voicemail

The Voicemail tab displays all received voicemails. Click any message to listen, download, read a transcript (if enabled), call back the sender, or delete the message. Unread voicemails are indicated by a red number badge on the tab icon.

Parking

The Parking tab shows all currently parked calls. Calls are parked from within the active call window using the Park button. Parked calls can be picked up by clicking the Pickup option next to the call in this tab.

Chat

The Chat tab lets you create and manage internal message conversations with other users on the system. New unread messages are shown with a red number badge. From within any conversation you can also initiate a voice or video call directly.

SMS

The SMS tab lets you create and manage text message conversations with external contacts. You can confirm your outbound SMS number from the My SMS Number section at the top of the left menu. SMS must be enabled by an administrator.

Contacts

The Contacts tab is where you view, add, and manage all your contacts. You can call, chat, or video call any contact from their detail view. Add contacts to your Favorites list using the star icon next to their name.

Fax

The Fax tab lets you send faxes and view your inbound and outbound fax history. To send a new fax, click the plus button next to the Fax Caller ID, fill in the cover page options, attach your file, and enter the destination number. Fax must be enabled by an administrator.

Dialer

The Dial Pad button at the bottom of the left-side menu is always visible regardless of which tab you are on. It opens a dialing panel where you can type a number, search for a contact by name, and place an outbound call from anywhere in the application.
