Desktop App Uninstall and Reinstall Process

When to Reinstall

A clean uninstall and reinstall of the UC desktop application is recommended when the app is behaving unexpectedly, failing to update correctly, experiencing persistent login or audio issues, or not launching as expected after a system update. In many cases a fresh installation resolves issues that cannot be fixed through the application itself.

Uninstalling on Windows

  1. Close the UC application completely before starting. Check the system tray in the bottom right corner of the taskbar and right-click the UC icon to exit if it is running in the background.
  2. Open Settings from the Start menu and go to Apps, then Apps and Features.
  3. Search for the UC application in the list, click on it, and select Uninstall.
  4. Follow the uninstall prompts to complete the removal.
  5. After uninstalling, navigate to your AppData folder (type %appdata% in the Windows search bar to find it) and delete any remaining UC application folders to ensure a fully clean removal.

Uninstalling on macOS

  1. Quit the UC application completely.
  2. Open Finder and go to the Applications folder.
  3. Find the UC application, right-click it, and select Move to Trash.
  4. Empty the Trash to complete the removal.
  5. Optionally, open Finder and press Cmd + Shift + G to navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/ and delete any remaining UC application data folders for a fully clean removal.

Reinstalling

  1. Download the latest version of the UC desktop application from the Apps section under User Preferences in the web version of the application, or contact support for the current download link.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. Once installed, log in with your PBX credentials and test to confirm the issue has been resolved.

If the issue persists after a clean reinstall, contact support with a description of the problem and any relevant console logs for further investigation.
