User Settings and Preferences in the UC App

User Settings and Preferences in the UC App

Accessing User Settings

Click your user icon in the top left corner of the application to open the User Settings and Preferences menu. From here you can manage your status, do not disturb settings, notification preferences, companion mode, and all preference categories. You can also sign out, access the PBX portal, or report an issue from this menu.

User Status and Do Not Disturb

Click Update your Status to set a custom status with an emoji and message. Your status is visible to other users until you clear it. Use the grey X button next to the status message to clear it.

The DND and notification toggles work as follows:

  • DND On: Both calls and notifications are disabled simultaneously.
  • DND Off: Calls and notifications revert to whatever their individual settings were before DND was enabled.
  • Disable Calls: Stops calls from ringing on the device without affecting notifications.
  • Disable Notifications: Turns off application notifications without affecting calls.

DND can be configured to apply system-wide across all your devices or only to the current client, depending on how your administrator has set up the system parameters.

Profile

Edit your name, email, phone number, address, and profile image. Set your preferred language, time format, and timezone. Change your sign-in password from the Account Settings section. Language changes take effect immediately after selection.

Audio

Select and test your microphone, speakers, and ringer. Use the Test Sound option to verify your audio devices are working correctly. Adjust notification and ringer volume using the volume sliders. If a device is not appearing, click Rescan Devices to refresh the list.

Video

Select and preview your camera. Options include Mirror Local Video to flip the preview horizontally, Blur my background during calls to blur everything behind you, and Camera on when entering a meeting to enable the camera automatically on joining. Click Rescan Devices if your camera is not detected.

Answering Rules

Configure your ring timeout, create and manage answering rules, and manage time frames. Ring Options let you set how long the phone rings before going to voicemail, allow or deny multiple incoming calls, and enable auto-answer with a configurable delay. Answering rules can be added, edited, or toggled on and off. Ring behavior options include Forward All Calls, Do Not Disturb, Only Ring Primary Deskphone, and Simultaneous Ring. Time frames define when each rule applies and can be set to specific hours and days.

Blocked Numbers

Manage a list of allowed and blocked numbers. Enable the Block anonymous or unknown numbers toggle to automatically block calls from unidentified callers.

Calling

Configure companion mode behavior, including whether the companion mode state is remembered between sessions and whether only the companion device rings or both the app and the companion device ring when a call comes in.

Contacts

Import and export personal and shared contacts via CSV. Toggle Contact Matching on or off. When Contact Matching is disabled, inbound calls display the name sent with the call invitation rather than looking up a stored contact.

Music on Hold

Upload and manage audio files for music on hold. Enable or disable the feature and toggle randomization to play files in random order. Add an introductory greeting using a file upload, a recorded greeting, or a text-to-speech message with a selectable language and voice.

Notifications

Customize notification sounds and behavior for each notification type individually. Notification types include Incoming Call, Incoming Second Call, Missed Call, Group Chat Meeting activity, Incoming Voicemail, SMS, Chat, and Incoming Fax. For each type you can toggle sounds, toggle minimized notifications, toggle foreground notifications, and select a custom ringtone where applicable.

Voicemail

Manage all voicemail settings from one place, including toggling voicemail on or off, sorting messages newest first, announcing the time a voicemail was received, and confirming before deleting. Add or manage voicemail greetings by uploading a file, recording from your device, or using text-to-speech. Manage your recorded name, configure unified messaging email options, and change your voicemail PIN.

Integrations and Apps

The Integrations section provides options to install the Progressive Web App version of the UC client and register for one-click calling. The Apps section provides QR codes and links to download the mobile and desktop versions of the application. To log in to the mobile app using the QR code, open the mobile app first and use the QR code option on the login screen before scanning.
